Broom Storage Closet: A Game-Changer for Laundry Room Organization

When it comes to laundry rooms, functionality is key. One of the most essential elements in creating a streamlined space is having adequate storage for cleaning equipment and supplies. In this week's installment of our Modern Cottage Laundry Room project, we're excited to share how we added a small broom closet to increase the functionality of our room.

For years, I've struggled with finding a suitable place to store my vacuum, sweeper, and mop. The pantry or coat closet were temporary solutions, but they weren't ideal. It wasn't until I started planning my laundry room remodel that I realized the importance of having a dedicated storage area for these items. A small broom closet seemed like the perfect solution.

As we began constructing the wall, we encountered an unexpected challenge: no stud at the location of our desired wall. We had to get creative and find an alternative way to secure the studs. After building the wall flat on the floor, we were able to align it with the pencil markings and secure the studs to the existing wall.

With the space cleared, we began framing out the utility closet. Marking the wall with a pencil line showed us the location of the studs, making it easier to cut them to fit the height of the wall. We also cut the header and footer pieces to match the length of the wall.

Not only did we create a storage area for our broom, mop, and vacuum, but we also added shelves for even more organization. This small broom closet has already made a significant impact on the functionality of our laundry room. It's amazing how something as simple as a dedicated storage space can transform a room from cluttered to calm.
